UIndy Women's Soccer ID Camp '14
Ah, soccer is in the air!
The summer is coming to a close, and with that comes the annual ID camp that our team hosts to teach forty-two girls a little something about what it is like to be a college athlete at UIndy.
For a few days these girls get a glimpse of living in the dorms, a taste of the good ole cafeteria, and a hands-on (or technically, feet-on) feel of how WE play soccer. The campers also get to tour campus and ask any and every question of the counselors on staff about our experience at UIndy, or college and general. We try to show them a good time, as well as some good soccer, of course.
With only a few weeks left until we all return for pre-season, I cannot wait to return and make 2014 OUR year. This camp was just the beginning, and I'm looking forward to see what we can do.

Key Stadium under the lights; this is what we play for.

It's that time again!
With the Lady Hounds coming off a great weekend, Spring Season has unfortunately come to a close.
We played the Butler Bulldogs and tied 1-1, which was a good result after a putting up a great fight. Jocelyn Evans flew up the line and fought until she put the ball in the back of the net, and scored our only goal. Even with a little adversity, we stayed engaged and made sure we didn't let up.
After letting Butler know that we are a force to be reckoned with, we moved onto IUPUI. And after a long battle, an unfortunate penalty kick and lots of one-sided fouls, we came out on top 2-1. Jocelyn was on fire and let in another rocket while the other goal game from our center-defender Hannah Mangus on a free kick! If anyone could attempt to kill the Great Kaitlyn Braunig's shoes, it'll be you, Han!
These past few weeks were a great precursor to what's to come in the fall.
This soccer team will be successful, and that all starts now.
We also ended the season with a bang in the UIndy leadership community.
Some of our teammates attended the 2014 Recognition Banquet for leaders and student achievements.
We accepted the Athletics Commitment to Service Award, which was presented to us because our passion and initiative to inform the community about our Free2Play pledges.
How exciting is that?!
And thank you Jackie Paquette and Megan Fee for the photos!
Coming up on Tuesday is more excitement. The annual "Halloween in April" is happening and there should be some lovely photos to come!
Can't wait to take the GLVC by force next year! We're coming for ya!

Also, there's been a change...
With fresh starts and new seasons, we unfortunately lose some teammates who are very near and dear to us. Four years is simply too short.
That being said, I want to give a one last shout out to the AMAZING Kaitlyn Braunig. Being one of our leading scorers and consistent starters, we're going to have to fill a hole next year without her.
Kait's leadership and passion for the game is something I admire and I hope I can be half the player that she is.
Her spirit and happiness was always uplifting, especially as one of our captains.
Most importantly, she kept this blog going and now it's been passed down to me.
I was afraid to make a post, but Kait encouraged me to take on this blog as my own, so I hope I can keep her spirit alive in these posts, because she will be greatly missed next year when she goes on to bigger and better things.
We love you Kait, and good luck!

Future changes (specifically updated photos and formatting) are coming soon!
With one weekend under way in the spring season, our team
triumphed over Findlay (2-0) and Grace College (1-0) at Ball State. The return
of injured players and new faces seemed to make the difference: nice to see you
again, Shelby Spinelli and Nicole Duncan!
Lindsey Adams scored in both games and Shelby scored the
second goal against Findlay.
Our newest member, Aubrey Hauenstein debuted and took the
field by storm! We’re so happy to have you Aub and we can’t wait to see you
continue to do great things!

Great News from the Hounds!
I am extremely honored and humbled to announce that the UIndy women's soccer team's 16 goals this season raised $2225.60 for Free2Play! We achieved our goal of beating last year's grand total of $870.75, which was equivalent to $32.25 per goal scored. Incredibly, our per-goal earnings this season were $139.10! I could not be more proud of my teammates for stepping up and speaking out for a cause that is more than worthy.
As if that news wasn't good enough, there's more!! Alongside our friends on the UIndy men's soccer team, we earned a combined total of $627 from our Pink Games to go towards the efforts of fighting cancer. Again, I can't say enough how honored I feel to be a part of such an amazing group of people.
Good luck to all of the UIndy teams still in competition. GO HOUNDS!
